A New Year is here, Sub It Clubbers!
Some feel the need to evaluate, sum up, and project into the future. Others don’t want to think too much and prefer to take things as they come. I do a little of both and finish with a mishmash of varied results.
This year my strategy is to have one goal and stay centered on that one goal. Nothing else counts. Other things have to get done but I’m not going to let the TO DO list fool me into thinking I’m getting closer to the goalpost.
The TO DO list can trick you into doing a lot of things around the goal without doing the exact thing needed to reach the goal. (That’s right, singular.)
So as you ring in the New Year, take a minute to zero in on the one thing you want to accomplish the most— the one thing you need to accomplish— and fix your vision on that. Take aim and do not stray.

I want to thank everyone for their support and encouragement through Sub It Club. I wish you all the best in 2014. Here’s to all of us achieving that goal!
What have you got planned for January? Comment here or if you’re part of the private Sub It Club Facebook group, tells us how you’re doing over there. If you’d like to join our Facebook group, send a request. And have a great month!
One goal? Oh how you challenge me! I just posted about goals and I have way more than one! http://frolickingthroughcyberspace.blogspot.com/2013/12/goals.html I have way more than one for the next two days! Aaaaaahhhhhh! I am going to think very hard about this one main goal. Your advice always sets me in the right direction.

AHH! I know! I guess I just want to prioritize and not let myself be comforted by ticking things off the TO DO list that make me think I’m working towards goals. Sometimes all that other stuff is really keeping me from dealing with the “real” goal…

I want to do at least five writing challenges in 2014. Plus, the dreaded subbing. 😦 I sent FOUR out today. What better way to end the year? YIKES! Great post. My MIG (most important goal) is snagging an agent. YES! Happy New Year!

One Goal – not 10 or 20? IF I must focus on only 1 goal – It is to land a PB contract w/ a trade pub. But so right to focus on only the 1 goal as that’s the north star that sets up the action for the year.

Hi Diana. Yes! Nice way to put it: the north star. And yes! It does set up all the action. Good luck landing that contract.

Having made the decision to look for an established publisher for my Elfery books rather than trying to self-pub, my goal this month and probably beyond, is to find an agent.

Best of luck, Linda. The agent search is often difficult but it’s a great goal.

Great advice. I like to stick to one goal this year but first I need to finish up my goals from last year. Yikes!
