Happy Valentine’s Day all of you lovely Sub It Clubbers! Since we love that you work to submit your best manuscripts possible, today to celebrate 3 years of Sub It Club we have some giveaways to help you sub your best. We have two opportunities for picture book writers, one for MG and YA writers, and one for writers of Adult. (We haven’t forgotten you, Illustrators, Dana has a great giveaway for you coming up on Tuesday!)
Picture Book writers:
You can enter to win a picture book manuscript and query letter critique from yours truly. Since I have a brand new Picture Book Query Letter Workshop, I’m also giving away a free pass to the course! So, that’s 2 chances to win for picture book writers.
I think you all know that I love writing query letters. I give in-depth picture book critiques giving both inline comments and big picture analysis. My self-paced query letter course is designed to lead you, step-by-step, through creating a query letter for your picture book manuscript. I am available to answer questions and give advice along the way.
Middle Grade and Young Adult writers:
Sub It Club member Colleen Bennett and her partner T. L. Sumner of WT Editing Services have offered to do a YA or MG first chapter critique (up to twenty pages) for one lucky winner!
Colleen Bennett writes MG and is represented by Karen Grencik of Red Fox Literary. T.L. Sumner writes YA and was a 2015 RWA Golden Heart Finalist. They have over twenty years combined experience in various aspects of writing and editing. In their critiques they look for key elements regarding plot, voice, and format. They’ll tell you what we feel is working and what is not. They also look for areas to tighten and sharpen.
Adult writers:
Author C.S. Lakin, who runs Critique My Manuscript is offering a 10-page critique! Her critiques include evaluation for clarity, structure, pacing, organization, sentence structure, voice, and more. You can read about her in-depth critiques on her What is Included page.
C.S. Lakin is the author of many helpful books for writers including The 12 Key Pillars of Novel Construction: Your Blueprint for Building a Strong Story (The Writer’s Toolbox Series), 5 Editors Tackle the 12 Fatal Flaws of Fiction Writing (The Writer’s Toolbox Series)
, and Writing the Heart of Your Story: The Secret to Crafting an Unforgettable Novel (Writer’s Toolbox Series) (Volume 1)
among others.
