Here at Sub It Club we love to celebrate our members! Today we’d like to give a shout out to Kristine Carlson Asselin. Kristine has written a number of great non-fiction books for children, and this month Capstone press published her book, Dangerous Diseases: Scary Illnesses that Frighten the World! Crusty pink scabs. Explosive diarrhea. Black, swollen bumps. These symptoms aren’t just the stuff of gross out stories and horror movies. They are real symptoms, caused by real diseases. And some people are suffering from them right now.
Kristine is one brave lady! But we already knew that. She’s a writer submitting manuscripts! Not only does she pop in and lend us her expertise from time to time in our Sub It Club facebook group, Kristine is the Director of the New England SCBWI Conference, she writes a newsletter, keeps up an inspiring blog, and sends out helpful tweets @KristineAsselin. I, for one, feel so lucky to have Kristine as a part of the club and appreciate all the knowledge that she takes the time to share.
Kristine is represented by Kathleen Rushall of Marsal Lyon Literary Agency. Her debut young adult novel, Any Way You Slice It will be published by Bloomsbury Spark in fall 2014. You can go check it out on Goodreads. And you can go give Kristine’s author page on Facebook a like as well!
The microbiologist in me is smiling! Go Kristine and Capstone for publishing this.

Congratulations, Kristine! Gruesome cover, but I love the topic. That’s enough to spike the interest of readers…and as you say, frighten the world!
