The Postcard Post Old Home Week: Elizabeth Rose Stanton and Russ Cox

It’s time once again to take a look at what illustrators who shared their postcards and tips with us in the past are up to now. Postcard Post Old Home Week is back with author/illustrators Elizabeth Rose Stanton and Russ Cox.

Elizabeth Rose Stanton

Elizabeth’s had lots of exciting news. Let’s get all the details from her!

Stanton_Henny postcard frontIt’s been quite a year! It started with the release in January of my picture book, HENNY (Simon & Schuster/Paula Wiseman Books), followed by so many exciting happenings–highlights including: being invited to read for “Storytime” last May at the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art, as well as Henny getting a American Library Association Booklist star, and her being named to the American Booksellers Association Indie Kids’ Next list for winter 2013-2014!

Preparing for the book release was both fun and challenging.

Last fall, in anticipation of the release of Henny, I decided to have a postcard printed up with the book’s cover on one side and a full color spread from the interior on the other. It has come in very handy as a big “calling card” for the book!

The postcard back: a spread from HENNY. What a treat!

And the adventure continues. A few months before Henny was released, I sold another picture book to Simon & Schuster called, PEDDLES (a little pig with some big ideas). I recently finished up the final spreads and just completed the art for the cover.

So I think it’ll be back to piggy postcards for me, starting next year. Stay tuned!

I will stay tuned, Elizabeth. Congratulations!

Russ has his contact info on the front as well as the back of his promotional postcard.

I also did a book with Lynn Plourde called A MERRY MOOSEY CHRISTMAS which is out now from Islandport Press. Two FREDDY THE FORECASTER books written by Janice Dean are out now and I am working on illustrations for the third.

And the fun continues on the back of the postcard. Lucky kids!

And the other exciting news is that I am doing a chapter book series for Penguin Random House. The first book should be out next spring.

All wonderful news! Congratulations, Russ!
